I will not be distracted by outcome of Ogun governorship election – Amosun

– Governor Ibikunle Amosun says that he is focused on delivering the dividend of democracy to the people of Ogun state

– Amosun notes that he is focused on completing all pending projects before the end of his tenure, after which he would head to the Senate

– The governor, a member of the APC, was backing Adekunle Akinlade from the APM to succeed him as governor of Ogun state

Governor Ibikunle Amosun has said the outcome of the Ogun state governorship election will not distract him from focusing on governance.

Amosun made the statement when reacting to the defeat suffered by his candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the Ogun state governorship election, Channels TV reports.

The governor told reporters that he was focused on delivering the dividend of democracy to the people of the state and completing all pending projects before the end of his tenure, after which he would head to the Senate.

“Eyes on the ball, you don’t lose focus; no distraction. I told people that whatever the outcome, by Monday I’m back. I’m doing my work,” Amosun said.

“Indeed, we are going to be working flat-out; day and night because those projects must be finished, even some of our roads will be finished.”

Amosun, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was backing, Adekunle Akinlade, from the APM to succeed him after his candidate lost the governorship ticket of the APC.

Meanwhile, the immediate past governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, has mocked the outgoing governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun, over the reported defeat of his candidate in the Ogun state governorship election.

Ibikunle Amosun is of the APC but is supporting for his political protégé, Adekunle Akinlade, of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the election. But despite his support, the APM governorship candidate appears to be struggling in the poll.

Reacting to the political intrigues in Ogun state, Fayose in a tweet on Sunday, March 10, congratulated Amosun for losing the election of his political son.
